About
This blog records the adventures of Erwin & Annemieke (Miek) on their journeys around the globe…
They have made a long world trip of 15 months in 2008/2009 that took them to most of Asia, Oceania and South America. In 2016 they traveled for four and a half months, mostly to places they had not been before, including Myanmar, Buthan, Tibet, South Korea and some more islands in the Pacific Ocean. In November 2017 they went on another four and a half month trip, now traveling (back) to Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina and Chile.
In December 2019 they started a new adventure: their fourth world trip of another four and a half months. After a short and quiet stay on Lombok in Indonesia they traveled to Australia to visit those parts of the continent they hadn’t been to before. After a few months of roaming mainly the south of the country, their journey would continue to Japan at the end of March 2020. However, due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was wiser at that moment to cut the trip short and return home quickly.
In February 2022, after two years of COVID restrictions, they left for a new adventure. They spent two months in Thailand, and one and a half month in South Korea. Due to their Covid restrictions, they were unable to travel to Japan again.
Between April and July 2023, they went on a workation in Croatia. They explored the country while working remotely during the week.
In 2024 they were finally able to go on their 3rd visit to Japan, which lasted two months. After a short visit to Osaka, where they could enjoy Sakura, the cherry blossom season, they toured Shikoku island and from there went on to explore North Honshu and Hokkaido.
Travel is bad for the environment. That’s why (short) flights are avoided, CO2 emissions are compensated and more sustainable alternatives are favoured.
