First (webcam) contact was made this morning with Miek’s parents! W00T! While having brekkie we hooked up the laptop and webcam and coincidentally Miek’s parents were online too. A first opportunity to wave at each other.. 🙂
After breakfast (Miek just had to have pancakes at IHOP) we drove up north to the start of the Hau’ula hiking trails. A nice loop took us into the hills and back, giving us some spectacular views. The trail was great but unfortunately it was muddy at times too. We’ll have to find a laundry service soon..
We followed the coastal road down south, stopped at some of the fantastic beaches, watched the surfers and kite surfers, before heading to Makapu’u Point, a great vista point near a lighthouse at the end of a nice footpath. No whales were spotted yet even though the area is a whale sanctuary and it is indeed the right season for spotting them.
